It Turns Out That Steve Vai Recorded Many Songs With Ozzy Osbourne, But...

JAKARTA - Steve Vai revealed that he has enough material recorded with Ozzy Osbourne for a full album.

In an interview with eonmusic, the flamboyant guitarist said he recorded a lot of material for Ozzy, but was unable to do anything about the material because he had no right to do that.

"We did record some pretty good material," Vai said. The interesting thing about the things we recorded from the guitar perspective are all parts of my guitar rhythm, I used octave divisors, and that material didn't sound like anything else.

"Ozzy recorded about half of his album for the record company, and Sharon (Osbourne) and the label wanted to put it together with several different songwriters to get some more songs," he continued.

So I'm one of the people they want to be with. It's really just to write some songs for Ozzy's album which he's going to take and use for his album and whoever worked with him on the album will record them.

Vai noted that they ended up recording a lot of material and then the two of them made plans, but the label then intervened and insisted that Ozzy was only entitled to one song from the guitarist.

Vai contributed the song My Little Man to Ozzy's album Ozzmosis (1995), despite other songs being considered. In this album, Zakk Wylde is the guitarist.

One of those songs is the Danger Zone, I've written it down, and it's finished - it's a song (owned by the project) Gash - and I thought, 'Well, maybe he likes this,' and I did a little more, but it's just kept.

There is some very heavy material (heavy) because, as I mentioned it, I used the octave divisor in every way, and it was a deliberate attempt. I thought, 'OK, you will work with Ozzy, and all these amazing guitar players have played with Ozzy; what are you going to do? I won't be conventional."
