KKP Disbursed 3 Challenges To The Indonesian Fisheries Marketing Sector This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) stated that there are three things that are challenges in marketing Indonesian fishery products, in 2023.

Marketing Director of the Directorate General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Erwin Dwiyana explained that the first is that economic growth in 2022-2023 is projected to decline in almost all regions in the world.

"In the United States there is even a projection of the 2.0 GDP estimate in 2022, then the GDP decreases to 1.4 (in 2023)," Erwin said at the Bincang Bahari event on the Marine and Fisheries Sector Map in the Middle of the Recession Threat monitored online, Tuesday, February 21.

Second, said Erwin, inflation occurred in the United States, where this country is still the main export destination of Indonesian fishery products.

"Then, inflation occurs in America and we may understand very well that inflation in America also affects the demand from Indonesian fishery and shrimp products, which are the main markets in America, has decreased," he said.

As is known, shrimp is still the main export commodity for Indonesian fishery products with an export value of US$2.16 billion. With inflation in the United States, Indonesian shrimp exports will be sluggish.

Finally, there are challenges in wages and consumer trust. So, he continued, it will have an impact on consumer spending.
