WhatsApp Will Be Integrated With Facebook And Users Must Agree With It

JAKARTA - Starting February 8, 2021, the WhatsApp application will add a new privacy policy for users. Later, the policy will appear on WhatsApp, and Android users will be asked to agree to it.

Quoting XDA Developers, Thursday January 7, in the notification, WhatsApp mentioned three important updates. One of them, users are now required to submit data to Facebook, the parent company of WhatsApp, if they want to continue using the application.

Whereas previously, users could choose whether to forward their data to Facebook or not. But now there is no option except to accept these conditions.

"The information we share with Facebook includes your account registration information (phone number), transaction data, service-related information, information about how you interact with other people (including businesses) when using our services," WhatsApp wrote.

Apart from sharing data with Facebook, two other points in WhatsApp's privacy policy changes revolve around processing user data and communicating with business account owners.

Even though they have agreed to the new policy, users will not experience any changes when using WhatsApp. Starting from chats, new messages, calls and WhatsApp status updates will still be protected with end-to-end encryption.

Thus, users must accept these terms and changes in order to continue using their WhatsApp account after the deadline. If you don't agree, WhatApp says that users can delete their account.

"You can visit the help center if you prefer to delete your account and want to get more information," WhatsApp wrote in its notification.
