BNPT Encourages FKPT To Participate In Public Education To Maintain Unity In Political Year

JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) of the Republic of Indonesia encourages every member of the Terrorism Management Communication Forum (FKPT) to actively educate the public about maintaining unity in the political year.

"FKPT can participate in educating so that our people are not trapped in hatred and hostility among the nation's children which is the effect of identity polarization and politicization," said BNPT Head Komjen Boy Rafli Amar in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 21, as reported by Antara.

The three-star general said the momentum of the political year was vulnerable to producing conditions for social polarization, and identity politics using the issue of ethnicity and intergroup (Sara) wrapped in narratives of intolerance, violence and hatred.

The effect of this condition must be damped and removed so as not to cause the birth of social disintegration and friction that divides society.

"FKPT must actively participate in educating the importance of prioritizing the spirit of brotherhood, unity and unity in democracy in the political year," said the former Papuan and Banten Police Chief.

Through the seven fields in the FKPT, namely the fields of religion, social and cultural, mass media, law and public relations, youth, education, women and children, assessments and research conducted by FKPT in 34 provinces, BNPT hopes that FKPT can initiate multi-party cooperation (pentahelix) in order to promote the spirit of unity and integrity in the political year.

"FKPT friends can work together and initiate dialogues with our partners in the regions to promote the spirit of unity and integrity," Boy said.

"The goal is how people in the country can celebrate a five-year democratic party without any hatred and violence," he said.

Additional information, currently there are 34 FKPT representatives with 306 administrators. Most recently, Lebak and Jepara Regencies formed FKPT. Previously, in 2022 FKPT was formed in Papua and West Papua Provinces.
