Bringing Tourists, The Riau Islands Provincial Government Makes Senua Island A Turtle Conservation Center
NATUNA - Natuna Regency Government, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), made Senua Island a center for turtle conservation and leading educational tourist destination in Natuna. "Some time ago we coordinated with various parties regarding the work plan in an effort to make Senua Island a turtle conservation center," said Assistant II of Natuna Regency as well as Head of the Natuna Basri Regency Geopark Team, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 20. He explained the reason Senua Island was used as a pilot area for turtle conservation activities because the island has the potential for turtle laying eggs and is uninhabited. "We agree that Senua Island is used as a turtle conservation center because one of the considerations is close and so far it is indeed a place for laying eggs," he said. The island of Senua is also the leading small island of the Republic of Indonesia which is important to manage and maintain by carrying out activities on the island, one of which is conservation. "It will be more for the security of turtle eggs by providing a place for turtle eggs so as not to be looted. Currently we are still compiling the technical plan, "he also said, the activity will involve many parties both directly and indirectly, such as NGOs, village governments, and the community as a whole.
In addition, the Natuna Regency turtle conservation center on Senua Island is also a leading tourist destination that must have concrete steps in developing the attractiveness of visitors. "It's automatic, if there are attractions, then there will be tourism actions there, including educational tourism can also be done," he explained., Senua Island has also been designated as one of the national geopark geosites in Natuna Regency some time ago.
