Sanctions For PSBB Java-Bali Violators Are Regulated By The Local Government And The Quarantine Law
JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Doni Monardo, said sanctions for violators of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Java and Bali are regulated by the respective regional governments.
"What is the future for those who violate? Are they given sanctions, what are the forms of the penalties, are the sanctions in the form of administrative sanctions, whether for individuals in the form of groups, businesses, offices and so on? So everything is regulated by the regions," said Doni at the conference. press broadcast on the BNPB YouTube account, Thursday, January 7.
Apart from referring to the rules made by the local government, sanctions for violators of this restriction can also follow the Health Quarantine Law which regulates criminal penalties and fines.
"There is another law on quarantine which also regulates articles of violation, can be sanctioned for one year of corporate imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp100 million," he said.
Furthermore, Doni also touched on the issue of social sanctions, the implementation of which is based on an agreement with community representatives in the area.
"The involvement of the community must be more, so that there are those who violate it, the community will punish through social sanctions, and it will be much more effective. People will be more embarrassed," he said.
"But if this doesn't work, then of course the regional regulations as well as regents, mayors and governors must also be implemented," added the head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
Previously reported, the government through the Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) Airlangga Hartarto decided to implement the PSBB in Java and Bali. The goal is none other than to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
This new policy took effect on January 11 and ends on January 25. This is also anticipated by the government to be aware of the findings of a new variant of COVID-19 which is said to be more contagious and based on Government Regulation (PP) Number 21 of 2020 concerning Large-Scale Social Restrictions in the Context of Accelerating Handling of COVID-19.
