Ancer-ancer APBN 2024: Deficit 2.16 Percent Lower Than This Year

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani revealed that the initial discussion of the 2024 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) had formulated a deficit under the estimated 2023 State Budget.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance after being summoned by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta today.

"Next year we estimate that the deficit will decrease at the level of 2.16 percent to 2.64 percent of gross domestic product (GDP)," he said on Monday, February 20.

According to the Minister of Finance, this assumption makes the primary balance structure in the APBN approach the level of IDR 0.

"This is the initial discussion of the APBN which discussed macroeconomic policies and the main principles of fiscal policy for the 2024 RAPBN," he stressed.

For information, in the 2023 State Budget, the budget deficit is designed at the level of 2.84 percent of GDP or equivalent to IDR 598.2 trillion.

This figure was obtained from the state expenditure plan of IDR 3,061.2 trillion compared to the projected revenue of IDR 2,463.0 trillion.

To note, next year there will be a change of government from President Jokowi to the elected president of the 2024 General Election. On this basis, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated that the APBN will provide full support for the completion of a number of government priority programs in the remaining one year.

"That 2024 is the last year of the government of President Jokowi and Vice President KH. Ma'ruf Amin. Therefore, various priority programs will be focused on implementing it," he said.
