For Golkar, Zainudin Amali Is Ready To Withdraw From The Cabinet, 'Bola' Now In The Hands Of President Jokowi
Spokesperson for the Golkar Party, Tantowi Yahya, opened his voice about Zainudin Amali's position in the Advanced Indonesia cabinet after being elected as one of the deputy chairmen of PSSI at the Extraordinary Congress (KLB), February 16, 2023.
The reason is, Amali has not firmly declared his resignation from his position as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora). Amali only admitted that he was allowed by President Joko Widodo to focus on managing PSSI. Tantowi said that the determination and dismissal of the minister was the prerogative of the president. Including the position of Zainudin Amali.
"Pak Zainudin is one of the people chosen by the President to become a minister. This means that for the world of youth and his sport is a representation of the president, right?," said Tantowi to reporters, Monday, February 20.
Moreover, he continued, President Jokowi had stated that Zainudin Amali did not need to resign from his position as minister. The same is the case with the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir.
"The president has already made such statements. But there are dynamics in society, many are asking questions, first about effectiveness, secondly about mutual authority," he explained. On the other hand, said Tantowi, Amali was ready to resign from his position as Menpora and chose to focus on fixing PSSI.
"In such conditions, Pak Amali (also) made a statement that he is ready to resign from the ministerial position because he prefers the position as deputy chairman, which he thinks needs attention and needs concentration," continued the former Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand. Therefore, Tantowi emphasized, the Golkar Party is waiting for President Jokowi's final decision regarding the fate of Amali as Minister of Youth and Sports.
"We'll see what the president's decision will be like. If I'm not mistaken, there will be a meeting," concluded Tantowi.
