Barcelona's Victory Over Cadiz Indeed Widens The Distance With Real Madrid, But Instead Makes It Legal
JAKARTA - Barcelona won 2-0 over Cadiz in La Liga Spain continued, Monday, February 20, early morning WIB. The victory brought the Blaugrana to extend the lead over Real Madrid.
Goals from Sergi Roberto and Robert Lewandowski sealed all three points for the Katalan team to collect 59 points. Now Barcelona are eight points clear of Real Madrid in second place.
However, this victory caused unrest. Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, was worried about the condition of his players ahead of the Europa League last 16 playoffs.
As is known, Barcelona had to travel to Manchester United's headquarters in the second leg, February 24. They need a win or at least a draw by scoring three goals or more to qualify after in the first leg they drew 2-2 at Camp Nou.
Xavi was concerned because some of his mainstay players were allegedly exhausted because they continued to be played. At the time against Cadiz, the entrepreneur deliberately brought in six new players so they could rotate.
"Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski played longer. I think they have played a lot of minutes, that's why I made changes," he said, as reported by Marca.
"One day Pedri was injured and we were unable to bear more injuries. Let's get ready for Thursday's game starting tomorrow and see how tired they are," continued the former Spanish national team player.
Xavi will assess the condition of his players in the coming days. Chances are, Barcelona will only announce the squad on February 21, before flying to England.
