PSSI Deputy Zainudin Amali Gave An Ambigu Statement About His Position As Menpora After President Jokowi's Report
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali has reported to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding his position as Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of PSSI 2023-2027. He gave an ambiguous explanation whether he chose to resign or remain as Menpora.
"I have reported to the president, he also knows that I was elected as one of the deputy chairmen of PSSI and he handed it over to me," Amali said in a press statement monitored from the Cabinet Secretariat YouTube account, Monday, February 20.
"I conveyed to my friends that I had to vote and I conveyed to the president, 'Father, I will focus and concentrate on managing football as PSSI administrators'. And that he understood, and he said, I was allowed to concentrate on taking care of football," he continued.
Amali's answer certainly confused the media crew at the Palace. The reason is, there is no firm statement whether he resigned from the Menpora seat or not.
Regarding this, the man from Gorontalo again gave an explanation. "I have said I will concentrate and focus on football and the President will allow it, please," he said.
"Yes, okay. Cook that so must be explained in length again," continued the Menpora.
Previously it was reported, Amali was urged by a number of parties to resign from his position as Menpora. The reason is, he is now occupying the seat of Deputy General Chair of PSSI for the period 2023 and 2027.
Amali actually failed in voting for PSSI's Deputy General Election at the Extraordinary Congress, 16 February. He lost votes to Queen Thasha and Yunus Nusi.
However, Yunus Nusi decided to resign and give Amali a place. During the KLB, the man from Gorontalo had revealed his plan to resign from his position as Minister of Youth and Sports if he was elected PSSI Deputy.
Now, a number of parties have billed the plan. Responding to this, Amali admitted that he had a desire, but had to report it to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) first.
"No, I want to report it first, wait after that. We will report it first, right, the assistant to the president. There is no decision on it alone even though there is a desire," Amali said, as quoted by Antara, Monday, February 20.
Secara etika, kata Amali, dia akan melaporkan dulu ke Presiden. Lalu dia menunggu arahan dari Presiden untuk ditindaklanjutkan.
"If it becomes a wish after all, but ethically as an assistant to the president must first report to the president, we are an Extraordinary Congress, then what kind of policy is his," said Amali.
