The Poor In Banda Aceh Were Forced To Buy Elpiji Gas For IDR 38 Thousand Per Tube

The Mayor of Banda Aceh, Bakri Siddiq, found that the 3 kg LPG subsidized cylinders for the poor were sold beyond the stipulation, starting from Rp35 thousand to Rp38 per tube.

"We received information from the public directly, currently the price reaches Rp35 to Rp38 thousand, which should only be Rp18 thousand per tube," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 19.

This was conveyed by Bakri after directly monitoring the availability of 3 kg LPG at the distributor and retailer level to checking prices with traders.

Bakri explained that the 3 kg subsidy LPG produced by PT Pertamina (Persero) is only intended for underprivileged communities, micro-enterprises, as well as fishermen and target farmers.

According to him, LPG is currently one of the basic needs of households, especially in urban areas. If LPG is not available, it will be difficult for residents to switch to kerosene or firewood stoves like the old era.

Bakri also asked the public not to exceed the price set by the government.

"No less important, the distribution of LPG must be right on target. Do not let it be in the city, more used by people who are classified as rich or capable. Because, this is a special subsidized item for relatives who are low-income people," he said.

On this occasion, Bakri also appealed to Pertamina and other relevant stakeholders, including traders, to jointly ensure that the distribution of LPG is right on target.

"We must jointly ensure that this 3 kg LPG subsidy is right on target for the citizens of Banda Aceh City who are entitled," he said.
