West Sulawesi Jajaki Agricultural Investment Cooperation With South Korea

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government of West Sulawesi (Sulbar), Indonesia, is exploring investment cooperation with the government of Jeollabuk-do Province, South Korea, in agriculture.

Acting Governor of West Sulawesi Akmal Malik met with Governor Jeollabuk-do Kim Kwan-young, holding a meeting to discuss cooperation in agriculture, in Mamuju, Saturday.

Akmal Malik said that the meeting discussed efforts to develop the economy and welfare of the regions, especially in West Sulawesi, by building the agricultural sector.

"It was agreed that investment in agriculture would be carried out to improve West Sulawesi's economic welfare," said Akmal, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

He said that he really wanted the people of West Sulawesi farmers to learn from the province of Jeollabuk-do about the implementation of the smart farming program, considering the condition of agricultural land in West Sulawesi which has been shrinking for a long time due to the growth in the number of settlements.

"Smart farming is one solution to develop the agricultural sector in West Sulawesi, people can be actively involved in using limited space for plantation plants with economic value and this needs to be learned in Jeollabuk-do," he said.

"Smart farming will be one of the solutions for West Sulawesi to get out of economic problems with a small scale, by learning the smart farming method and then implementing it in West Sulawesi," he said.

He said the West Sulawesi government would visit Jeollabuk-do Province to study the growing smart farming in the area.

Gubernur Jeollabuk-do Kim Kwan-young telah menyampaikan pihaknya sangat tertarik dengan posisi Sulbar yang akan menjadi wilayah penyuplai kebutuhan ibu kota negara (IKN) baru Indonesia di masa depan.

"One of them is to realize smart farming in West Sulawesi for fruit and vegetable plantations by prioritizing the quality of fruit and vegetable products produced through smart farming, which can be export-valued," he said.

Governor Kim said smart farming in his area had been running well, the production results were in the form of potatoes,lawi, melons and fungi, which had been exported to Indonesia.
