The newly elected PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, has been faced with bad news. The League 1 match between PSIS Semarang and Persis Solo was stopped due to chaos outside the stadium.

The club's supporters were reportedly involved in a clash with the police. In fact, as reported by Antara, the authorities fired tear gas.

As a result, smoke from the tear gas entered the field and disrupted the match. Referee Sigit Budiyanto was then forced to temporarily stop the match which took place at the Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang, Friday, February 17.

Still quoted from Antara, the match then continued after being stopped for about five minutes. The two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

This match was actually held without spectators in accordance with the recommendations issued by the Semarang Polrestabes.

However, thousands of supporters of PSIS Semarang were desperate to come to the stadium to provide support to their favorite team.

At the location of the match, PSIS supporters even forced their way into the stadium, so the police were forced to shoot tear gas to block them.

The risk of chaos between the police and PSIS supporters occurred right in front of the entrance to the stadium.
