Kemenkumham Asks Babel To Register Martabak Bangka As A Communal Intellectual Property
BABEL - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) was asked to register Martabak Bangka as a Communal Intellectual Property (KIK) so as to get legal protection.
"We hope that martabak will be registered as KIK to avoid this typical regional food being claimed by other parties," said Head of the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Babel Province, Harun Sulianto in Pangkalpinang, Friday, February 17, as reported by Antara.
He said this martabak belongs to Bangka and martabak people in every region in Indonesia. So it is very unfortunate if this typical Bangka food is later claimed by other regions.
"I was in Surabaya, Palembang, Jakarta to buy martabak and almost all traders want to receive my money, because the people selling the martabak are residents of Belinyu, Bangka Regency," he said.
Harun Sulianto, who is the son of the Belinyu area, Bangka Regency, stated that it is not only the martabak that must be registered by KIK but including my noodles.
"This oil is sold in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province and the seller is from Belinyu," he said.
According to him, if the martabak and mijib are not registered to obtain KIK, it would be a shame if the typical food of Bangka people was claimed by other regions.
Therefore, he asked for communal intellectual property in Babel, such as typical foods, expressions of traditional culture, and traditional knowledge to be registered in order to obtain legal protection, as well as become added value to the economy and become an attraction for tourism in this area.
"There are many potential intellectual property in Bangka, such as Cap Go Meh, Fekcun, Sembahyang Rebut, Celebrating Chinese New Year, Nuju Cerami, Mandi Belimau, Rebu Kasan, Pekasem Quoted, Kiping, and so on to get legal protection," he said.
