TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Airport Police arrested a man from Indramayu with the initials SYS (24). He was arrested on suspicion of stealing a cellphone worth Rp 9.9 million in the Soekarno Hatta Airport area.
Currently, the perpetrator is being held at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police detention center, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Kompol Reza Fahlevi in his statement, Thursday, February 16.
Reza explained that the initial incident began with the report of the passenger with the initials, MC, who lost his cellphone.
Furthermore, the victim reported the incident to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Avsec (Aviation Security) officer.
From the report, said Reza, Avsec also coordinated with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police to uncover the case.
Based on CCTV footage, his party managed to find out the perpetrator who committed the theft.
"Then carried out investigative steps. We managed to identify the perpetrator and finally the perpetrator was arrested not long ago," he said.
Reza said the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to pretend to be a prospective passenger in flight services, but while monitoring potential victims.
"As soon as he saw that the victim's belongings were left behind, the perpetrator immediately approached and took the victim's belongings and then left the location of the crime scene," he said.
The perpetrator has been named a suspect by being charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
