Waiting For The Golden Crown Discotheque's Fate After Hundreds Of Visitors Are Found Using Drugs

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) raided the Golden Crown Discotheque and found visitors who tested positive for using drugs. However, the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) has not dared to close the discotheque.

Head of DKI Disparekraf, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia, said the reason his party had not revoked the Golden Crown Discotheque's tourism business registration certificate (TDUP) was because DKI BNNP had not submitted a written report.

"Basically there must be an official written statement, not an oral statement. Anyway, if the BNNP report states there is (drug use), then we will close it," said Cucu when contacted, Thursday, February 6 evening.

Cucu explained, Disparekraf could not prevent the re-occurrence of drug use in entertainment venues in Jakarta. According to him, when there is a drug discovery, it means that there is negligence on the part of the management.

"If drugs are not within the tourism office's domain. Don't be blamed. What is clear is that this has been compromised by the management. They actually have to do body checking, but they don't do that," said Cucu.

The management's obligation to supervise drug use is stated in the Governor of DKI Regulation Number 18 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Tourism Business.

In Article 38, it is mandated that every tourism entrepreneur is obliged to supervise and report in the event of a transaction and or use / consumption of narcotics and other psychotropic substances in the environment.

Then, in Article 54 Paragraph (1) it is stated that every tourism company management proven to have allowed the circulation, sale and use of narcotics and / or other psychotropic substances at the location where the tourism business is carried out in 1 (one) management shall revoke the Tourism Business Registration Certificate ( TDUP) directly.

"If it is proven that there is management involvement or we have allowed the action of Pergub 18 of 2018, we recommend that it be closed," said Cucu.

As is known, the BNNP held a raid at the Golden Crown Discotheque, West Jakarta, on Thursday, January 6 in the morning. Deputy for Eradication of the National Narcotics Agency, Arman Depari, said that there were 184 urine examinations that were carried out. Only, as many as 107 people were positive for the type of methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs, with details of 63 men and 44 women.

"Currently, all visitors who are indicated positive for using drugs are brought to the DKI BNNP for further investigation and assessment," said Arman.
