Erick Thohir: Morals Are Needed To Bring SOEs To The World Level
JAKARTA - State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir said Indonesia has no shortage of smart people and great people. However, capability alone is not enough to encourage state-owned company business to go global. According to him, capabilities must be in line with the basic competencies of the actors.
Furthermore, Erick explained, capability and morals must go hand in hand. He termed morality as a core value that must be instilled and implemented by all BUMN employees.

Erick said, to make the capabilities and basic competition of the actors go hand in hand, his party would encourage the concept of morals that had been formulated to be applied by all levels of BUMN. Furthermore, Erick explained that the word Akhlak is an acronym for Mandate, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, and Cooperative. The mandate, according to him, is that SOEs try to cling to the trust of the Indonesian people.
"Competence is no less important, namely being competent and continuing to learn to develop capabilities because we are not quickly satisfied. Harmony is the key, harmony in that we work together to care for each other and respect these differences is our key in carrying out our daily lives," he explained.
According to Erick, one of the efforts that will be carried out is to carry out a number of corporate transformation and restructuring steps so that the core business can run optimally according to the target.
