KPK Checks Former Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf In The Sabang Pier Development Gratification Case
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigated Irwandi Yusuf. The former Aceh governor was investigated regarding the alleged receipt of gratuities related to the construction of the Sabang Pier.
Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Irwandi was examined as a witness. The information is needed to complete the file of Izil Azhar who is a suspect in this case.
"The investigation was carried out at the Corruption Eradication Commission Office," Ali told reporters, Thursday, February 16.
Irwandi is still undergoing examination. Further information will be conveyed by Ali after the request for information is made.
"He has arrived. He is in the examination room," he said.
As previously reported, Izil Azhar, who is the former Commander of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), was arrested by the KPK in Banda Aceh after being a fugitive. He was the right-hand man of former Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf when he received gratuities in 2007-2012.
The KPK said the gratuity was received from PT Nindya Sejati which carried out the Sabang Pier construction project. The money with the term'security guarantee' was given by the management represented by Heru Sulaksono and Zainuddin Hamid.
The money received by Irwandi through Izil reached Rp32.4 billion. Giving is always done at his house located around the Baiturahman Grand Mosque.
Furthermore, the money received was enjoyed by Izil and for Irwandi Yusuf's operational funds. As a result of his actions, Irwandi's former success team was detained at the KPK Detention Center Kavling C1 Branch of the ACLC Building.
