Jonan Resigns From Commissioner Sido Appears, Want To Concentrate At Unilever?

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ignasius Jonan, submitted his resignation from the position of Independent Commissioner at PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul). That way, currently he only serves as a Commissioner at PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk.

Quoted in the disclosure of information on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Wednesday, January 6, the management of the issuer coded as SIDO reported that his party had received Jonan's resignation letter on January 3, 2021. Sido Muncul himself will hold a general meeting of shareholders to decide Jonan's resignation.

Jonan has served as an Independent Commissioner for Sido Muncul since 25 November 2020. In the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders (EGM), Jonan and Young Taek Park were appointed as new commissioners to replace Ronnie Behar.

This means that the former President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has not yet served as an independent commissioner for Sido Muncul for 40 days. It is not certain what caused Jonan's resignation.

"The company on January 3, 2021 has received a letter requesting the resignation of Mr. Ignasius Jonan from his position as Independent Commissioner of the Company," said Sido Muncul's statement.

"In accordance with the provisions in Article 18 Paragraph 10 of the Company's Articles of Association in conjunction with Article 27 POJK No.33 / POJK.04 / 2014 concerning the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of Issuers or Public Companies, the Company will hold a GMS to decide on the resignation request."

On his Instagram social media page, @ ignasius.jonan, he uploaded a photo with the owner of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat. Jonan wrote that he hoped Sido Muncul could become a company with global quality like a multi-national company operating overseas.

"I took a picture with the legendary figure Irwan Hidayat who was behind the modernization efforts of Sido Muncul," he wrote on Tuesday, January 5 yesterday.

Jonan is known as a management and finance practitioner with extensive experience as a leader in various high-achieving institutions and institutions such as Citibank, PT Bahana Pembimbing Usaha Indonesia (Persero) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).

Jonan also has experience in government, having served as Minister of Transportation (2014-2016) and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (2016-2019). Jonan was also previously appointed as Commissioner of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. (UNVR) in July 2020.
