Special Detachment 88 Keeps Watching Abu Bakar Baasyir's Movement After His Release

JAKARTA - The West Java (West Java) Regional Police are holding security in the process of releasing Abu Bakar Baasyir from Gunung Sindur Prison, Bogor, next Friday (8/1).

Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Erdi A. Chaniago, said that the process of releasing the leadership of the Al Mu'min Islamic Boarding School was indeed a concern of the police.

"Of course, the National Police will also secure the process of releasing Abu Bakar Baasyir, it is our duty to secure both open and closed security," said Erdi as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 6.

Erdi added, joint officers would be deployed in the process of securing Abu Bakar Baasyir, both from the Bogor Police, West Java Police, and even from the National Police Headquarters.

"Because the person concerned is already known to the public, it will certainly be a concern," said Erdi.

Meanwhile, the West Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights also stated that they would involve the Police Special Detachment 88 Team in the process of releasing Abu Bakar Baasyir.

After his release, Abu Bakar Baasyir will also be monitored for his actions to ensure the security and order of the terrorist convict.

"Because in the context of releasing terror convicts (terrorist convicts), efforts are still being carried out for further surveillance by related parties," said Head of West Java Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Imam Suyudi.
