20 Years Delayed, Ombak Releases First Single
JAKARTA - For nine years on hiatus, the band Ombak reunited. This time, they released a work titled the same as the band's name, Ombak.
Ombak is the first single from Eri (vocals), Aga (guitar), Sam (bass) and Rana (drums). This song was released via the Kana Musik & Believe Distributions label since November 27, 2020.
Song Ombak was recorded in March 2000. Yes, 20 years ago. At that time they had not yet released this song.
The music and lyrics for Ombak were made by Aga, while the bass line was filled by drummer Rana.
Looked back a little. Waves was formed in 1997. At the beginning of its existence, the band often performed songs from Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Infectious Grooves.
In this era, the influence of drugs is so strong. So that many of their songs were not recorded because they often changed personnel.
The trials were getting heavier because the economic crisis hit and the riots of '98 exploded. Many of the band's colleagues either died or were undergoing rehabilitation.
After recording the song Ombak, Rana and Sam chose to take a hiatus because they were busy with their work. The second position was filled by Ponti and Revi.
4 years later, Ombak recorded a demo of the song Angkasa. After that again vacuum. Had returned to existence with a reunion formation in 2011, the band was on another sabbatical.
Now, they are back with a single that was delayed by 20 years: Waves.
