Kaspersky: Top Online Fraud In Southeast Asia Can Suspicious IDR 3.46 Trillion
JAKARTA - Even though community activities are almost completely normal, the digital habits that have been formed during the pandemic remain intact with the regional internet economy which is estimated to reach US$330 billion by 2025.
Increased adoption and dependence on digital services such as online shopping, mobile banking, cryptocurrencies, and others will continue to form a threat landscape in Southeast Asia.
Last year, Vitaly Kamluk of Kaspersky, Director of Global Research & Analysis Team (GReAT) for Asia Pacific, predicted four cybersecurity trends for 2022, including:
From these predictions, Kaspersky found the number of online scams continued to infect users in Southeast Asia. In Singapore, there are at least the top 10 online scams that have generated a total of US$227.8 million (Rp3.46 trillion) in just the first half of 2022.

Data leaks have become common news involving various victimology including state-owned companies, airlines, hotel networks, coffee shops, payment gateway service providers, universities, cryptocurrency apps, and more.
