Jokowi Targets Millions Of Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine Spread To Various Regions In 3 Months

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the COVID-19 vaccination program will start next week. Currently, the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine has been carried out to various regions in the country.

"This vaccination will start next week. I see distribution starting on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, it has started to enter the regions. That is only the first phase," said Jokowi during a limited meeting of the COVID-19 Pandemic Handling and Vaccination Implementation Plan broadcast on a YouTube account. Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, January 6.

In front of his ministers, Jokowi explained the government's target regarding the distribution of vaccines to various regions in Indonesia until next March. Jokowi said that this month, the government targets 5,800,000 doses of vaccine to enter the regions.

Furthermore, in February it is targeted that 10,450,000 vaccines must be distributed.

"Then in March 13,300,000 vaccines must also be distributed and the vaccines implemented in the regions," he said.

As for the other target months, Jokowi did not elaborate. He said the target after the distribution of vaccines after March would be announced at a future date.

To meet domestic vaccine needs, Jokowi also said that the government had ordered millions of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from producing companies. In total, he said, there were 329,500,000 million doses of vaccine ordered by the Indonesian government.

He explained, from Sinovac, Indonesia ordered as many as 3 million plus 122,500,000 doses of vaccine. Next, from Novavax there are 50 million doses of vaccine, COVAX-GAVI 54 million doses of vaccine, Astrazeneca 50 million doses of vaccine, and Pfizer 50 million doses of vaccine.
