Menparekraf Sandiaga Calls A Maximum 1,200 People Can Go Up To Borobudur Temple Using Upanat Sandal

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the target for tourists who can ride Borobudur Temple in a day is a maximum of 1,200 people using upanat sandals.

"The maximum target is 1,000-1,200 tourists with the use of upanat sandals," said Sandiaga in Jakarta, Monday, February 13.

Upanat is a special sandals used to ride the Borobudur Temple which aims to prevent increased wear on the temple stone, especially on the stone and floor stones.

Regarding the ticket price to increase Borobudur Temple, said Sandiaga, the plan is to set at IDR 100,000-IDR 150,000 for domestic tourists (wisnus) and IDR 500,000 or more for foreign tourists (tourists).

"Based on the data we received and some kind of limited discussions that we conducted, the determination of the entrance ticket for Borobudur Temple proposed is between Rp. 100,000 for foreign tourists and Rp. 500,000 for foreign tourists," he said.

Sandiaga said that his party had conducted trials on the tariff determination during the Asean Tourism Forum (2023), some time ago.

Now, continued Sandiaga, his party is just waiting for confirmation or finalization from the management, in this case PT TWC regarding the final decision on the tariff determination. "(This tariff) we have tested during the 2023 meeting and is now waiting for feedback from the PT TWC manager," he explained.

Menparekraf Sandiaga said that in the future nine thematic tour packages, titled "Borobudur Trial of Civilization", will also be made in the future.

"As is well known, Borobudur is a leading Super Priority Destination, the enthusiasts are very high, we must provide the right policy in accordance with the expectations of the community," he said.
