JAKARTA - The Express Pricilia 88 fast boat experienced engine failure in the waters of Tomini Bay, Gorontalo. The passengers began to experience sea drunken attacks due to continued flooding in the waves.
"We have succeeded in contact with the Head of the Express Priscillia 88 High Speed Ship. The latest information is that the condition of the passengers is starting to experience sea motion. Considering the condition of the ship is still adrift with waves reaching 1.5 meters," said Head of the Gorontalo Basarnas, Heriyanto, in Gorontalo, Monday, February 13, as reported by Antara.
The last contact with the captain of the ship was confirmed that the entire condition of the crew and passengers was still safe. However, some passengers began to be attacked by sea motion.
"We tried to save quickly. Luckily the sky was clear, even though the strong winds and high waves colored the waters of Tomini Bay," he said.
His party deployed personnel from the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office or Basarnas. Currently heading to the last position of the ship (Last Know Position/LKP).
At 19.15 WITA, the communication officer of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office received information from the captain of the fast boat Express Priscillia 88.
"That there has been an Express Priscillia 88 fast boat accident that experienced engine failure with 85 passengers, please SAR assistance," he said, citing information from captain Captain Rohi.
Basarnas deployed personnel using rescue ships 216 and brought equipment in the form of rescue jackets and medical equipment, to help passengers who needed medical treatment.
He said the chronology of the incident was on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 14.00 WITA, the Express Priscilla 88 Fast Ship sailed from Gorontalo Harbor to Pagimana, Central Sulawesi with 85 passengers.
"At 19.05 WITA, we received a report of the incident at the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office," he said again.
