JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Tegal City DPRD Wasmad Edi Susilo, the defendant in a dangdut concert and celebration case, was sentenced to 4 months in prison with a 1 year probation and a fine of Rp. 20 million, a subsidiary of 2 months in prison.

In their demands, the public prosecutor (JPU) asked the panel of judges to find the defendant guilty of committing a health quarantine crime. This is as regulated and punishable under Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine and Article 216 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

"Furthermore, sentencing the defendant Wasmad Edi Susilo to a prison sentence of 4 months with a probation period of 1 year and a fine of IDR 20 million subsidiary 2 months in prison," said Prosecutor Yoanes Kardinto at the Tegal District Court, Central Java, as reported by Antara, Tuesday. , January 5.

According to Yoanes, the defendant's actions had fulfilled the elements of the criminal act charged and no justification was found that could erase the defendant's guilt so he had to be held accountable.

As for the consideration of burdensome matters, said the prosecutor, the defendant did not support the government's efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"The things that relieve the defendant are being straightforward, regretting, and not repeating their actions," said the prosecutor.

Defendant Wasmad Edi responded to the Prosecutor's demands by directly submitting a pledoi or a verbal defense. He acknowledged and regretted his actions.

"We personally and our families deeply regret this incident and respect the ongoing legal process," said Wasmad Edi.

After submitting his pledoi, the defendant Wasmad submitted a decision and asked the panel of judges to decide the lightest sentence.

"Hopefully this decision is the best decision for myself, my family and the Indonesian nation because this is the first time this is in Indonesia," he said.

After hearing the defendant's pledoi, the panel of judges chaired by Toetik Ernawati decided to have a follow-up hearing with an agenda for reading the verdict on Tuesday, January 12.
