Fugitive Supplying Weapons And Ammunition To KKB Papua Arrested
JAKARTA - Police have arrested a man named Naftali Tipagau alias Niel Tipagau alias Nataniel Tipagau (25) who is a supplier of weapons to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Papua Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal said that based on the list of wanted persons number: DPO / 03 / III / Res.1.24 / 2020 / Ditreskrimum and Police Report Number: LP / 02-a / I / 2020 / Papua / Res Nabire dated 25 January 2020 regarding ammunition transaction cases.
"He was arrested on Jalan Sam Ratulangi, Jayapura, Papua," said Kamal in his statement, Tuesday, January 5.
Naphtali, said Kamal, was a pretty slippery fugitive. It was recorded that he had escaped twice. First on January 25 and November 12, 2020.
"At the time of the prosecution of Paulus Tebay, there was evidence of 20 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and Rp. 1,110,000 cash. Meanwhile, Naftali Tipagau managed to escape using a black automatic motorbike," he said.
Then, Naftali returned to trading weapons and ammunition with a man named Lingkar in Nabire Regency. But only Lingkar was captured, while Naphtali fled again.
"Nataniel has been actively involved in the organization of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) with the position of General Secretary of the KNPB for the Intan Jaya Regency," said Kamal.
The suspect is charged under Article 1 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code which contains' collectively and without the right to receive, try to obtain, deliver or try to surrender, control, carry, have supplies with him or have in his property , storing, transporting, or concealing any firearm, ammunition or explosives'
"With the threat of a maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment or a temporary prison sentence of up to 20 years," he said.
