The Government Is Preparing Convalescent Plasma Donor Banks To Increase The Cure Rate Of COVID-19 Patients
JAKARTA - The government is working to prepare a conventional plasma donor bank for the treatment of COVID-19 patients who need it.
Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force (Task Force) Wiku Adisasmito said this was prepared to increase the cure rate for patients exposed to this virus, especially for those with severe and critical symptoms.
"Currently, Indonesia is trying to provide a conventional plasma donor bank for therapy for COVID-19 patients who are in need. I want to remind all Indonesians, especially COVID-19 survivors, that the public can contribute to increasing the recovery rate," Wiku said in a press conference broadcast. on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Tuesday, January 5.
For information, convalescent plasma is blood plasma taken from a patient diagnosed with COVID-19 and who has been declared cured of COVID-19 for 14 days as evidenced by a realtime polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab test once with a negative result. .
Returning to Wiku, COVID-19 survivors who have contributed to donating their blood plasma have helped all parties to improve services and handling of COVID-19 patients.
"Good synergy between all levels of society in handling COVID-19 can improve quality and save more lives," he said.
Quoted from various sources, not all COVID-19 survivors can become conventional plasma donors. At least there are several conditions that must be met, namely:
18-60 years old
1. Have been infected with COVID-19 (positive PCR) and have been declared cured
2. Asymptomatic at least 14 days after recovery
3. Male or female who have never been pregnant, preferably
4. Prioritized for former sufferers of Covid-19 who experienced moderate-severe symptoms when the infection was present
