Bad Weather, Lion Air Aircraft From Jakarta To Bengkulu Must Landing In Palembang
The Lion Air plane on the Jakarta-Bengkulu flight landed at Sultan Mahmud Baharuddin (SMB) II Airport in Palembang on Saturday night, due to bad weather.
"Lion Jakarta-Bengukulu aircraft with flight number JT-630 diverted landings at an alternative airport (divert) at SMB II Airport at 18.10, due to bad weather conditions so they could not land at Fatmawati Bengkulu Airport," said Executive General Manager of SMB II Palembang Airport R. Iwan Winata to ANTARA, Saturday, February 11.
He said the landing had to be carried out because it had become the standard operating procedure (SOP) on flight.
Meanwhile, Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro said that currently two Lion Air flights to Fatmawati Soekarno Airport in Bengkulu (BKS) on Saturday experienced delays due to unfavorable weather impacts.
"Flights are getting late because the weather impact is not good in the form of strong winds in Bengkulu with speeds that exceed the safe capacity limit, resulting in non-qualified or requirements for flight operations," he said.
He explained that Lion Air flight JT-630 is scheduled to arrive at 17.50 WIB from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang (CGK), the decision to divert land at an alternative airport (divert), namely Sultan Mahamud Badaruddin II International Airport in Palembang (PLM). Lion Air operates a Boeing 737-900ER carrying seven crew members and 181 passengers.
JT-630 flight has landed at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport at 20.44 WIB, scheduled departure from Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport in Palembang at 20.08
Then, Lion Air flight JT-636 is scheduled to land at 14.00 WIB from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang (CGK), the decision to return to the airport of origin (return to base). Lion Air operates the Boeing 737-900ER carrying seven crew members and 179 passengers.
JT-636 flight has departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 20.47 WIB and has an arrival time at 21.57 WIB.
"The Lion Air operation was again flown on the same day after the airport destination, Fatmawati Soekarno Airport, was declared safe for flights," he explained.
He said his party had informed all passengers and had updated according to operational and weather developments.
"Lion Air continues to communicate and coordinate with all relevant parties, including airport managers, air traffic controllers, BMKG in carrying out flight operations and services," said Danang.
