After Seven Months Of Vacuum, Tiger Woods Will Return To Competing
JAKARTA - Tiger Woods announced on Friday that he will return to golf at the Genesis Invitational tournament in Los Angeles next week. "I'm ready to play at the PGA Tour Actual next week @thegenesisinv," Woods tweeted.
The former world number one golfer last played competitively at the British Open in July. Woods was unable to compete too much over two years, after a car accident that left him with a leg injury.Woods was also diagnosed with plantar fasciitis last year. The problem made him suffer pain in his heels and foot soles. "Plantar fasciitis is unpleasant, and now I'm doing recovery and moving forward on this because there are many good things I can physically do, to be able to hit the ball and practice, and do anything. But I can't move from point A to point B, and of course have to fix this," Woods said on an occasion as quoted by AFP.
He and his son, Charlie, took part in the PNC Championship in December 2022. But the 47-year-old golfer admitted by doing so, he ignored medical advice to rest. Last year, Woods appeared in the PGA Championship, but resigned in the third round. He is now ranked 1,283 in the world. InvitationalGenesis will also be Woods' first PGA tour outside of major events, since Zozo Championship in October 2020.
