Cak Imin Met Airlangga, PKB Assessed As More Realistic In Joining KIB Instead Of KIR

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto and Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, held a meeting at Istora Senayan, yesterday morning. Both claimed to have received the blessing of their respective coalition partners to work together. Political observer Ray Rangkuti assessed that the meeting was a realistic step for PKB in addressing the dynamics of its coalition with Gerindra. Because according to Ray, the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR) filled with Gerindra-PKB, is the most fragile.

"The PKB-Gerindra coalition is indeed the most fragile. It is difficult to see the positive and prospective coalition of these two parties," said Ray Rangkuti in Jakarta, Friday, February 10, evening.

Ray said Gerindra was in a position to need immediately other party partners in the coalition. This has led Gerindra to postpone the declaration of the nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

"Gerindra clearly sees that if the coalition is only built on these 2 parties, it will be difficult and can lose in the election market. Therefore, additional friends or even new friends are needed. So Gerindra's attitude not to quickly declare the presidential candidate is an option based on careful consideration," he said.

Ray said that Gerindra's declaration and doubts were not immediately caught by PKB as a signal of no match.

"Continue to avoid Gerindra for declaration is an easy signal to catch that Gerindra does not fully feel clicked with PKB. PKB of course, has its own time limit. And, the deadline is getting more and more urgent," explained Ray.

Therefore, Ray said, PKB took a stand by holding many political meetings. Meanwhile, KIB can be seen as a coalition that has the opportunity to become a coalition where PKB is anchored.

"The position is that PKB will go to KIB. Of course, no longer with the vice presidential offer. More as a last resort when the coalition building to be built does not materialize. The shift in PKB's position to KIB is a realistic road for PKB," he concluded.
