Medical Devices Are A Priority For Indonesian-Iran Cooperation

Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Khoush Heikal Azad said medical and medical devices are a priority for cooperation between Iran and Indonesia.

In the field of medical devices and in the health sector, we have worked very hard. We have Indonesian telemedicine available at the puskesmas. We also have telerobotic operations in two hospitals, which will increase to 10, "said Azad during the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday 11 February.

He said Iran had other medical equipment to be negotiated and was hopefully to be implemented in Indonesia soon.

Azad added that the Iran-Indonesia cooperation, as a fellow member of the non-block movement with foreign policies that are free and active from pressure from other parties, is very important.

Globally, the two countries have supported each other in various international forums and on human rights issues, which have been used as a political tool, or on the issue of the JCPOA nuclear deal, he said.

Regarding Indonesia's chairmanship in ASEAN, Azad said that Indonesia and Iran could establish cooperation between two institutions, namely the ASEAN and the ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization).

"I believe this is very beneficial for the two regions," said Azad.

ECO is an intergovernmental organization in Asia in the political and economic fields founded in 1985 in Tehran by Iranian, Pakistani and Turkish leaders.

Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin who attended the event said that Iran is an extraordinary partner for Indonesia.

"Indonesia and Iran are at the level of friendship so that we can openly and frankly discuss sensitive issues, such as bilateral dialogue about women and children," said Budi.

Also attending the event were former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla and former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fadel Muhammad.

On February 11, 2023, Iran celebrated the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The victory was achieved after a wave of protests that brought down the Pahlevi dynasty and the establishment of an Islamic Revolutionary led by Imam Khomeini.
