3 Human Trade Perpetrators Arrested At Soetta Airport Have Different Roles, Anything?

TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Airport Police (Soetta) managed to uncover a case of a syndicate of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). From the results of the arrest, the police got 3 perpetrators who had different roles.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Kompol Rezha Rahandhi explained, the three perpetrators with the initials RC (43), ABM (46) and AB (49), have their respective duties. For RC to serve as recruiters or sponsors of people who will be employed abroad.

"ABM is tasked with managing the passports of the victims and MBA plays a role in managing the visas of the victims to be dispatched," he said.

Rezha said, the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to promise prospective PMI jobs abroad with a high salary.

"They carry out their modus operandi to promise their victims to work abroad," Rezha told reporters at the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Friday, February 10.

This case was revealed at Terminal 3 International Departure Soetta Airport, Tangerang, Monday, October 17, 2022.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Soetta Airport Police, AKBP Anton Firmanto, said that a number of evidences in the form of 3 cell phones were used to communicate between the suspect and the victim.

In addition, three savings books containing funds were used for delivery transactions, three ATM cards used for money transfer transactions between suspects and victims, as well as 34 passports, visas, and CPMI travel documents.

The suspects were charged with Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 and or Article 83 in conjunction with Article 68 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison or a fine of Rp. 15 billion.

And or Article 4 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (PTPPO), with a minimum penalty of 3 years and a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of at least Rp120 million.
