Update On The Impact Of The Jayapura Earthquake: 44 Damaged Citizen's Houses, Hospital Buildings And 3 Affected Worship Houses
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said reports that came in regarding material losses experienced an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.4 Jayapura increasing.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said additional damage in addition to hitting public infrastructure also belonged to residents.
As many as 44 houses were damaged. Abdul detailed that the earthquake caused 15 houses to be heavily damaged, 1 house moderately damaged, and 28 houses slightly damaged.
In addition, 1 troop collapsed and drowned, 5 office buildings were damaged, Jayapura City Hospital was damaged, 1 mosque, 2 churches, 1 hotel, and 1 supermarket was also affected.
"The data [of [it] summarized by the BNPB Control and Operations Center (Pusdalops) today," said Abdul Muhari in a written statement, Friday, February 10, which was confiscated by Antara.
He added that the Jayapura City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Team and the Papua Province BPBD together with Forkopimda elements also continued to collect data related to the impact and casualties.
Currently, the Jayapura City Government is also processing the emergency response status after the main earthquake occurred on Thursday 9 February
According to Abdul, the urgent needs for victims of the Jyapura earthquake include electricity generators, tents, folding mattresses, ready-to-eat food, blankets, mats, and mineral water.
