Emergency Purchase Could Be A Solution To Barcelona's Striker Crisis
JAKARTA - Getafe striker Angel Rodriguez could be an option for Barcelona, if the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) gives the green light to Los Blaugrana to sign the player.
After Luis Suarez was injured for a long time, Ousmane Dembele is also confirmed to be absent until the end of this season. If Barcelona can prove to the RFEF that the Frenchman will be out for more than five months, they will need to get federation approval to make an emergency purchase outside the transfer window.
The Catalan club has previously monitored several players including Girona striker Cristhian Stuani and Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose. And now, Angel is the newest name on their list.
Angel lives up to the profile of a player Barca are looking for to fill the void in their attack, and he is an experienced LaLiga Santander striker. The 32-year-old has scored 12 goals in 25 games so far this season and his buyout clause is set at 10 million euros.
Meanwhile, Getafe seems ready to lose its flagship player. Their sporting director Angel Martin admits that if Barcelona call and make an offer they will have no other choice.
"This is a situation that we cannot control," he said, launching Marca. "The rules are sometimes in your favor or sometimes against you."
"If he leaves, it will be a real loss, but we are ready to handle the situation," added Angel Martin.
