Plastic Block Recycle Factory Built In Cikarang Bekasi

JAKARTA - The recycled plastic bottle factory type polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Amandina Bumi Nusantara was inaugurated in the GIIC Cikarang Industrial Estate, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

The construction of a factory covering an area of 20,000 square meters consisting of three main areas, namely the production area, warehouse, and office, is a joint venture with Coca Cola European Partners (CCEP) Indonesia and Dynapop Asia.

The President Director of CCEP for Indonesia and Papua New Guinea Jorge Escudero emphasized the importance of a closed-loop approach through the method of managing plastic packaged waste from bottles to bottles again so as to reduce the need for new plastic materials as well as make plastic packaging long-term.

"We are committed to ensuring the supply of high-quality rPETs according to government policies and international food safety standards, as well as increasing decent livelihoods and providing opportunities for waste-gathering workers and the public," he said, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 8.

Jorge said the investment needed reached Rp556.2 billion for the production of recycled packaging bottles of PET type which would not only reduce the use of pure plastic but also reduce carbon emissions.

"Currently, PT Amandina Bumi Nusantara is able to produce 25,000 tons of RPET per year as a real contribution to overcome the problem of plastic waste in Indonesia," he said.

Dynapack Asia CEO Tirtadjaja Hambali admits that he is honored to be partnering with CCEP Indonesia in presenting plastic circularity solutions that underscore the company's commitment to sustainable packaging.

"By ensuring responsible collection, integrated into the waste collection supply chain and prioritizing the safety of working conditions and human rights standards, we help realize our vision of a circular future as well as have a positive impact, one bottle every time," he said.

CCEP Indonesia and Dynapark Asia also launched a non-profit organization, the Mahija Parahita Nusantara Foundation (Mahija Foundation) which helps procure local recycled plastic raw materials for Amandina as well as provides support for improving welfare and living standards of informal waste collection communities.

The support is in the form of continuous work, social assistance, responsible waste management practices, and educational support for workers' children.
