Viral Sexual Harassment At KRL, PT KAI Claims To Have Not Received A Report

JAKARTA - A viral video on social media showing sexual harassment on an Electric Rail Train (KRL) by a man against young female passengers. KAI Commuter's External Relations & Corporate Image Care Manager Leza Arlan admitted that he had not received the report. However, he has ordered his officers to conduct a sweep regarding the viral video.

"KAI Commuter did not receive a report from the victim for this immoral act. However, our security officers are still investigating the alleged perpetrator based on the characteristics in the circulating video," said Leza when confirmed, Tuesday, February 7.

Leza also reminded passengers who boarded the KRL, if they experienced criminal acts or harassment, to immediately report to officers in the field. This is intended to be done no further.

KAI Commuter reminds users to immediately report to security officers or reprimand directly if they see inappropriate things that violate decency norms," he said. On the occasion, he reminded passengers who experienced harassment not to record and spread to the public for violating Article 27 Paragraph 1 of the ITE Law. The reason, said Leza, is that the train carriage has CCTV that can detect faces. It is known that the ITE Law Number 19 of 2016 reads Article 27 paragraph (1) of the ITE Law: Everyone intentionally and without rights distributes and/or transmits and/or makes accessible Electronic Information and/or Electronic Documents that have content that violates decency. With a maximum imprisonment of 6 (six) years and/or a maximum fine of Rp 1 billion.

"Not really by recording and disseminating it. Based on the ITE Law Number 19 of 2016 in Article 27 paragraph (1) of the ITE Law," he said.

Currently, KAI Commuter has an analytic CCTV that can record faces. If a crime occurs and is not immoral, the alleged perpetrator will be entered into the data base of the cctv analytic system so that if the perpetrator will use a commuter again it will be detected by the system, the perpetrator will be prohibited from boarding the commuterline," he added.
