Jokowi-Anies Duet Distributes Social Assistance To DKI Jakarta Residents

JAKARTA - A number of social assistance programs (Bansos) are ready to be rolled out by the central government to the community. It is hoped that programs such as the Family of Hope (PKH), the Groceries / Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) and Cash Social Assistance (BST) can help the community move back the economic wheels that are stuck, the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan said that his party would cooperate with the central government under the direct control of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"As many as 24 beneficiary families (KPM) with each aid recipient represented by eight families," said Anies at the Jakarta City Hall, Monday, January 4, quoted by Antara.

The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak has had a major impact on many aspects of people's lives. One of them, continued Anies, is the decline in economic activity. Especially for residents who do not have savings so that it affects their purchasing power.

"In conditions like this, the government intervenes to fill the space that we normally fill in ourselves. That is why there are various social assistance programs. The hope is that it will reduce the burden on families who are heavily affected by this crisis," he said.

Anies also reminded President Jokowi's message that the social assistance provided was prioritized on the shared needs of all family members.

"My message underlines the message of the President, this social assistance is used wisely and appropriately, this is carried out as well as possible. A message for gentlemen, don't buy cigarettes. So, its utilization is prioritized for the whole family," he said.

In addition, Anies also suggested that in addition to getting assistance, families who were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic should also take advantage of the various entrepreneurial access facilities provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Moreover, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has an Integrated Entrepreneurship Development (PKT) program. In the program, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government collaborates with the private sector and the community in developing the potential skills and business independence of the people of DKI Jakarta.

This can reduce the unemployment rate, improve the welfare and prosperity of the people through the provision of entrepreneurial facilities, increase entrepreneurial capacity, strengthen institutions and monitor and evaluate.

"While this (social assistance) is running, I hope that you can use it for entrepreneurial activities. In Jakarta, there is an Integrated Entrepreneurship Development (PKT) program, we hope that while receiving assistance it will also look for new opportunities by increasing income," said Anies,

He gave an example, the production of masks during this pandemic has increased. There are new opportunities that didn't exist before and are now profitable.

"Take advantage of the opportunities and opportunities that exist around you," he said.
