Christmas And New Year Holidays, Telkomsel Records Data Traffic Spikes Of Up To 36.61 Petabytes

JAKARTA - Telkomsel recorded data service traffic or payload at the moments of Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021. During that period, Telkomsel's services experienced a data surge of up to 36.61 petabytes (one million gigabytes).

Telkomsel noted that user traffic occurs during Christmas and New Year's Eve 2021. With an increase of 7.77 percent from weekdays or an increase of around 45.98 percent compared to the same moment in the previous year.

"Telkomsel is grateful that it is still trusted to be able to assist customers in interpreting the New Year's moments with joy through the availability of reliable products, services and connectivity, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which is full of challenges like today," said President Director of Telkomsel Setyanto Hantoro. , in his official statement, Monday, January 4.

Setyanto explained that the increase in communication traffic occurred in line with community activities celebrating Christmas and New Year at home. This achievement comes from internet browsing activities, video streaming, social media services, to instant messaging applications and mobile games.

Based on the division of regions, the highest increase in service traffic occurred in the provinces of North Sumatra and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Followed by Sulawesi, West Sumatra or southern Sumatra (South Sumatra, Lampung, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu), and Balinusra (Bali, Nusa Tenggara).

Until now, Telkomsel itself has provided more than 209 thousand BTS units throughout Indonesia. This includes 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost) and border areas, of which more than 77 thousand are 4G BTS.

Furthermore, to accelerate the reach and quality of the 4G network by increasing the internet gateway capacity to 6,880 Gbps. This includes implementing the new 4G LTE technology in all BTS using 900Mhz frequency.
