Hasto: Nahdliyin Citizens' Preference Against The Highest PDI-P
PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) said that many Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) or Nahdliyin residents tend to like them. This is considered something to be proud of.
"The highest reference for Nahdliyin to the PDI-P compared to the party, of course, is very proud and we are proud," said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in a written statement, Tuesday, February 7.
Hasto said, this tendency arose because of historical, ideological aspects to togetherness among grassroots. PDIP even considers NU as an old brother because the Indonesian National Party (PNI) which is the root of the party was founded a year after NU was founded in 1926.
This is what makes PDIP approach voters in the NU base area naturally. The closeness that has been established does not seem forced.
"Because internally it is close and culturally complements to each other at the grassroots, everything runs naturally, is not made up, and is not driven by electoral design. In fact, it is natural and full of spiritual atmosphere that creates true friendship," said Hasto.
Hasto ensured that PDIP will continue to work together with all parties including NU. "Moreover, the PDI-P and NU have a long history together. In fact, based on statistics, many NU cadres are currently regional heads," he said.
Furthermore, PDIP gave appreciation to NU, which has been around for a century. Hasto said NU had always been firm in maintaining its khittah and fighting for countries such as the practice of Pancasila.
"PDI-P appreciates NU for NU's determination in maintaining the 1926 khittah and its historical track record of Indonesia's struggle for independence and its determination in safeguarding Indonesianness based on Pancasila," he said.
As a tribute, PDIP will also hold an online dialogue regarding the Commemoration of 1 Century NU. This activity was carried out by Baitul Muslimin Indonesia (Bamusi) and BKN PDIP.
