National Police Headquarters Explains The Role Of Wijayanto In The Jamaah Islamiyah Terrorist Group
JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters said that the emir or leader of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), Para Wijayanto, has a fairly central role in this organization. One of them is creating a new concept.
This was conveyed by the Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters Inspector General Argo Yuwono regarding the development of the investigation of the Wijayanto.
"JI is finally led by an emir named Para Wijayanto, who is at this leadership, he focuses on da'wah then recruitment of new members and then on education," Argo said in a press conference at the Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday, January 4.
The new concept created by Para Wijayanto, he continued, was made so that this terrorist group would not be easily caught by Densus 88 Anti Terror.
"The Wijayanto made a structure and changed the old concept. So the old stewardship concept was JI's struggle based on general guidelines, he built a tastos concept, which means total ambiah system of total solutions," he said.
These Tastos, said Argo, also contain standards to maintain security that are also defensive so that this group is not easily caught.
He explained that while Para Wijayanto was the leader of this group, there were already seven terrorist forces, who were young cadres, sent to Syria. This was done from 2013 to 2018.
"According to Amir Para Wijayanto's statement that he had sent his young cadres to Syria from 2013 to 2018, there were already seven batches sent," he said.
Regarding this departure, Argo said that the young JI members had to make a will before leaving.
The will itself is kept by JI which will later be given to the families of JI members who died in Syria.
"Every young JI cadre who was dispatched to Syria said he had been provided with a will, taken, and held by the amir. If, for example, a martyr was there, the will was addressed to his amir and his family," he explained.
In addition, if a member dies, Jamaah Islamiyah will provide compensation. However, Argo did not disclose the amount of courtesy. "Later, the JI management will arrange compensation for the family if the martyrdom died in another country," he concluded.
