Karet And Polairud Boats Alert To Face Early Warning Of The Rob Melanda Kepri Flood Until February 11
RIAU - Riau Islands Police (Kepri) have alerted safety equipment to anticipate early warnings of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the Riau Islands region on February 5-11.
The early warning was previously conveyed by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hang Nadim Batam.
"We have alerted safety equipment in the form of rubber boats and life jackets at every Polres in this area to anticipate tidal flooding," said the Director of the Water and Air Police (Dirpolairud) of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Boy Herlambang, Monday, February 6, as reported by Antara.
In addition to safety equipment, he said his party was also alerting hundreds of personnel stationed in locations prone to tidal flooding.
He also appealed to coastal communities, users of sea transportation services and fishermen to be aware of the warnings that had been conveyed by the BMKG.
"Because there has been a warning from the BMKG, I hope that coastal communities, sea transportation service users and fishermen should not over-enforce their activities at sea because it is very dangerous," he said.
Reportedly, the Class I BMKG Hang Nadim Batam issued a tidal flood early warning in a number of Riau Islands areas on February 5-11, 2023.
Head of BMKG Hang Nadim Batam Station, Addi Setiadi, said the potential for tidal flooding in a number of Riau Islands was due to tidal activity and high rainfall.
"Therefore, we urge people on the coast to be aware of the phenomenon of coastal flooding which is predicted to have the potential to occur on February 5-11 in a number of Riau Islands areas," said Adi, Sunday, February 5.
A number of affected areas are Batam, Bintan, Tanjungpinang, Karimun and Lingga.
"This can have an impact on disruption of transportation around ports and coasts, community activities, and loading and unloading activities at ports," he said.
