FPI Lawyers Reveal Tens Of Millions Of Accounts Suspended, Polri Affirms Not Their Authority
JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters emphasized that it has never frozen accounts belonging to FPI. Freezing FPI accounts is said to be not the authority of the National Police.
"So if it is related to this, it is not the authority of the National Police," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Monday, January 4.
Ramadan said that he only knew the information on the account suspension. Therefore, the National Police has not been able to provide a complete statement regarding this matter.
"So there is no information related to this," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri said that freezing FPI accounts was not the domain of investigators. This is because there are no cases currently being handled and related to account suspension.
In addition, for the time being, Bareskrim Polri is only handling cases of attacks by FPI troops and the crowd of Rizieq Shihab.
"It is not the domain of investigators to handle cases of assault by officers," he said.
Previously, FPI attorney Aziz Yanuar said that one of the FPI's accounts had been frozen. This happened after the FPI community organization (ormas) was officially declared banned on December 30.
The account contains tens of millions of rupiah. But it did not explain the origin of the money in the account.
"Yes (frozen), the amount is one (account)," said Aziz.
