113 Houses In Kupang Soak Floods, The Regent Prepares 3 Refugee Points

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 113 families (KK) or 470 people from East Kupang District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), were hit by flooding in the Oesao River.

"Based on data collection carried out by a team from BPBD, there were 113 families affected by the flood disaster in East Kupang District due to overflowing water from the Oesao River flood as a result of extreme weather that hit Kupang Regency in the form of heavy rain this week," said the Head of BPBD Executive, Semi Tinenti, Sunday, February 5, confiscated by Antara.

Floods in East Kupang District were caused by extreme weather in the form of strong winds and heavy rains that flushed this week, adding that Oesao River overflowed.

The Oesao river overflowed after the Oesao Dam embankment in Pukdale Village broke down in the early hours of Saturday, February 4.

"There are residents who fled to several public facilities because the houses were flooded. Residents who fled from Naibonat Village," said Semi.

Semi added that extreme weather in the form of heavy rains also resulted in landslides on roads connecting Oemasi Village and Bone Village, Nekamese District but did not interfere with access to transportation connecting the two areas.

Meanwhile, Kupang Regent Korinus Masneno said the Kupang Regency Government had prepared three refugee camps for residents who had to evacuate because the houses were flooded.

Three refugee camps for residents affected by the flood disaster prepared by the government are Naibonat State Elementary School, Elim Church, and the house of the Kupang Regent in Oelamasi.

In addition, according to the Regent of Kupang, the government has also built a public kitchen to prepare food for disaster victims.

"We must ensure that all residents affected by this flood will still receive adequate food needs, so that no one has food difficulties when a disaster like this is happening," said Regent Korinus Masneno.
