Stunting Rates In Batam In 2022 Amounting To 15.2 Percent

JAKARTA - The Batam City Government, Riau Islands, recorded that the stunting rate or child growth and development failure due to chronic nutrition in the area decreased from 17.5 percent in 2021 to 15.2 percent in 2022.

"This figure is based on data from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI)," said Deputy Mayor of Batam Amsakar Achmad in Batam, Saturday.

The City Government also noted that the stunting rate based on the Electronic-Disablement and Public-Based Nutrition Reporting (EPPGBM) in Batam continued to decline, from 7.21 percent in 2020, to 6.02 percent in 2021, and again reduced to 2.4 percent in 2022.

"This means that there is a decrease of about 4 percent for data from EPPBGM, and a decrease of 2.3 percent for SSGI. So there are 2 data and both show a significant decrease in numbers," said Amsakar, who also serves as Chair of the Batam City Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team.

He further explained that until now his party has around 1,600 cadres engaged in stunting handling.

"In addition, it is also supported by all posyandu and puskesmas. Then 8 Offices of Religious Affairs (KUA), as well as universities throughout Batam," he said.

According to Amsakar, the program of Mr. and Mrs. Asuh Anak Stunting involving the TNI is an effective step to reduce stunting rates in Batam City.

"So now all components in the area have moved to minimize stunting," he said.

He said that the suppression of stunting rates is one of the efforts to prepare a superior generation to face demographic bonuses in 2030 and Indonesia Gold 2045.

"Actually, this generation can be maintained by providing collective attention or attention," said Amsakar.
