March 4 Will Be An Important Date For Indonesian Boxers Hebi Marapu
JAKARTA - Indonesian boxer Hebi Marapu already has a schedule to return to the ring. He will undergo his first fight in defending the WBC Asia Continutal title.
He got the title on July 7, 2022, in Pattaya, Thailand. At that time, Hebi Marapu won an absolute lift victory over Pipat Chaiporn.
Hebi Marapu himself not only carried out a mission to defend the WBC Asia Continental lightweight belt, but also took aim at the Intercontinental IBA title.
He had tried to snatch it on December 25, 2022. At that time, he dueled against Al Toyogon at the Larkin Arena, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
But the result was a draw that made Hebi curious about the title. This time, he didn't want to fail.
Hebi Marapu admitted that he learned a valuable lesson from the fight against Toyogon and gave him more motivation. It was also what made him not hesitate to take this fight, he had to be big at stake.
"The draw in the fight late last year made me quite sad because I really wanted to win," Hebi said in a written statement, as reported by Antara, Saturday, February 4.
"But that result is also a lesson for me to be better prepared and better. I still have to learn more if I want to go up to a higher level," he continued.
The plan is that the fight will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 4. Hebi Marapu has also started returning to gym and training with Canadian coach David John Treharne since the fourth week of January.
Unlike the previous preparations, this time Hebi, who will fight in additional parties, received additional training portions from the sports science team to improve their physicality.
