Often Compared To Old Vocalists, This Said Adrian Martadinata And Chico Andreas

JAKARTA - Adrian Martadinata and Chico Andreas are two new vocalists from a band that has a long journey in the Indonesian music industry. Adrian was lined up to become the vocalist of Samsons in 2022, along with Chico who was asked to be the new vocalist of Yovie & Nuno.

Being a new vocalist from a band that has existed since the early 2000s is certainly not easy. Adrian and Chico are also well aware of the consequences where they should be compared to the previous vocalist.

However, both of them tried to get used to the assessment of the listeners. "That's normal," said Adrian Matradinata when met at fX Sudirman, Jakarta on Friday, February 3.

"Obviously all vocalists experience it, especially for bands that are not short, yes, those who have been around for more than 20 years," said Chico Andreas.

According to Chico, when he was compared to the previous vocalist, he became more motivated to be even better, in order to maintain the good name of the group that had given him confidence.

Meanwhile, Adrian argues that listeners have more options to listen to their band works. "If there are friends at home who still like the old vocalist, they can also listen to the digital version, they can listen to the new one too," he said.

Instead of being burdened as a new vocalist, Adrian chose to think about other things. The reason is, at a time like this, he realized that everyone has their own right to have an opinion.

"We are both human beings, when we look at YouTube and social media, yes, there must have been a feeling of 'Aduh' at first. But we live in today's era, where everyone holds a cellphone, they have the right to speak. When it comes to burdens, yes, it's gone, there are many other burdens that are heavier than thinking about it," concluded Adrian.
