MRT Jakarta Gets A Review Of IDR 19.3 Trillion From England For Phase 3 Development

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) plans to build phase 3 of the Jakarta MRT with an East-West corridor of 84.1 KM. Various collaborations are carried out to realize the plan, including with the British Government.

The British government through the Expression of Interest (EoI) has stated financing support of around 1.2 billion dollars or equivalent to Rp. 19.3 trillion for the construction of phase 3.

Currently, preparations have entered the assessment stage by the Jakarta Metro Consultant Association (JMCA) under the supervision of the Directorate General of Railways of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.

This collaboration was realized during a working visit to Indonesia, The UK Minister of Export at The Department of International Trade HE Andrew Bowie who expressed his support for the development and expansion of the MRT Jakarta network, especially phase 3.

During the meeting, British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Owen Jenkins, Assistant for the Economy and Finance of DKI Jakarta Province Sri Haryati and Head of West Java Transportation Service A. Koswara, and a number of delegates from various companies related to the British railway industry were present.

I am very happy that Britain and Indonesia are exploring opportunities to cooperate in the development of the Jakarta MRT. Today's meeting brought in leading infrastructure and finance experts from the UK to collaborate in supporting Indonesia's transportation development plan. I am always looking forward to the development of relations between the two countries in this field," said British Export Minister Andrew Bowie in a written statement, Friday, February 3.

In his remarks, the President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat expressed his appreciation for the visit and meeting. Moreover, in 2022, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) received an expression of interest from the United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF) which expressed its willingness to finance the East West MRT Jakarta corridor.

Furthermore, at the G20 event in Bali, we have also signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) regarding this matter. This morning's meeting is a concrete step in realizing the cooperation in the construction of the EastWest corridor," he continued.

So far, added Tuhiyat, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) and the British Government, especially companies from its railway industry have carried out many collaborations such as in the field of improving human resources with Crossrail International and preparing a master plan for the development of the Lebak Bulus area with ARUP.
