Floods Are Still Inundated In Dompu NTB, Police Are Alerted To Help Citizens

In order to accelerate flood management, members of the police were alerted to assist in handling the impact of flooding in the Dompu District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

High intensity rain caused river water to overflow and flood residential areas in several villages/kelurahan in the Dompu sub-district on Thursday.

Dompu Police Chief Ipda Arif Syarifuddin said that floods hit the areas of Potu, Bada, and Bali Villages to Kareke Village in Dompu District.

"Members were alerted to help residents," said ANTARA, Friday, January 3.

He said that the flood caused inundation in the area of Kareke Village; Manggenda and Rasabou neighborhoods in Potu Village; Campomo Samporo, Mantro, and Ujung Pandang neighborhoods in Bali Village; and Kota Baru in Bada Village.

"A total of 56 houses and TPQ buildings were flooded," he said, adding, "There were no casualties in the flood incident."

He said that the water discharge of the Raba Laju River increased after heavy rains fell. The overflowing river caused the residents' settlements around it to be inundated.

Police officers were dispatched to help residents clean up drainage as well as piles of garbage and silt in residential areas affected by the flood.
