Wow, Beware Of The Crowd At Rizieq Shihab's Pretrial Trial

JAKARTA - The Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab filed a pretrial against the suspect in a case of alleged incitement and violation of the health protocol (prokes) to the South Jakarta District Court.

Rizieq Shihab's pretrial lawsuit is registered with number 150 / Pid.Pra / 2020 / PN South Jakarta, dated December 15.

Through FPI attorney Aziz Yanuar, this pretrial lawsuit is a legal challenge by Rizieq Shihab. This is because the process of determining the suspect against him is considered odd.

"Petitumnya declared invalid and canceled the determination of the suspect, arrest and detention of HRS," he said.

"This is an elegant effort and one of our efforts to defend the legal interests of our Ulama, Habaib, and our Grand Imam, IB HRS," he continued.

With this lawsuit, the South Jakarta District Court scheduled the first trial for Monday, January 4. However, it is feared that the proceedings will be disrupted due to Rizieq's sympathizers who are predicted to come to guard the trial.

Public Relations of the South Jakarta Court, Suharno, said that to anticipate this, his party had coordinated with the TNI and Polri. So, later the trial will be guarded by the joint apparatus.

"Do not let it interfere, especially the trial, generally kamtibmas," he said.

Apart from that, Suharno also appealed to Rizieq Shihab's sympathizers not to come to the courtroom. The reason is, if a crowd occurs, there will be potential for COVID-19 transmission.

"We must pay attention to health protocols, we prioritize healthy first," he said.

Responding to the appeal, Rizieq Shihab's lawyer, Sugito Atmo Prawiro, said that his party had never even invited HRS sympathizers to come to the South Jakarta District Court. This is because during the COVID-19 pandemic there should be no crowds.

But if Rizieq sympathizers come, it is their own desire. Only hopefully stick with implementing health protocols.

"If someone is there because of his own will, they must be able to comply with health protocols," he said.

Regardless of the presence or absence of Rizieq's sympathizers, 1,610 joint TNI-Polri personnel will be deployed to secure the pretrial pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court. Security was carried out at several points.

"1,610 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri and Pemda are on alert to secure the pretrial hearing tomorrow at the South Jakarta District Court," said Head of Public Relations of the Indonesian Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono

Thousands of personnel will be stationed at several points. The security pattern will be carried out in several layers.

"The security starts from the location of the trial to the direct route arrangement," he said.

Rizieq Shihab was named a suspect in the case of alleged crowd and health protocol violations, on Thursday, December 10. Not only Rizieq, in that case, the police also named five other suspects.

In this case, Rizieq was charged with Article 160 KUHP and 216 KUHP. Meanwhile, the other suspect was charged with Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine.

Rizieq has been detained since December 12. Rizieq is currently in a drug detention cell at Polda Metro Jaya.
